Kaveri Nisargadhama, an Island inside the river cauvery

Kaveri Nisargadhama  is an eco friendly nature park,  located  whie travelling towards Madikeri in the Coorg District of the state of Karnataka, in India. The beautiful picnic spot,  Kaveri Nisargadhama, is located at about 8 kilometers from the town of Madikeri.

The best time to visit the spot is during or just after the monsoons, that is between June and December. Kaveri Nisargadhama is a beautiful Island in the middle of the river Cauvery, when it splits while flowing , to form an island of about 64 acres.  This is just about 2 kilometers from the State highway at Kushalnagar.

Kaveri Nisargadhama was established in the year 1989 and the sprawling rea of 64 cres is abundant with rich and lush foliage  which includes thick bamboo groves, Teak and Rosewood. There is a deer park, Orchidarium, elephant rides and Boat rides.  There is a hanging bridge for you to walk across to reach the Kaveri Nisargadhama from the banks of the river.

There is a guest house run by the Forest Department  at the Kaveri Nisargadhama  for you to stay the night if you want to.  There are 10 - 15 cottages and 5 tree top bamboo cottages .
Nearby attractions include Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement and Abbey Falls.

How to Reach Kaveri Nisargadhama?
You can find regular Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation Buses plying between Kushalnagar and Madikeri.  Kushalnagar is located at about 30 kilometers from Madikeri. You can also hire an auto or a taxi from Kushalnagar as well as Madikeri, if you like .

 How to Reach Madikeri 

A tip to the tourists who are new to the place. Please do watch out while swimming in the river, it can be quite rough at times and take necessary precautions.
