How to reach Madikeri in Karnataka?






Madikeri is a town in the Kodagu district of the state of Karnataka in India. Mercara was the older anglicized name of madikeri town. Madikeri is a well known tourist attraction of the Kodagu district. Madikeri is located in the state highway 88 which runs from Mysore to Mangalore.


How to reach Madikeri?
If you are travelling by road, from Bangalore you can travel by the National Highway 17,  which is Bangalore Mysore Highway and then take deviation just after the town of Srirangapatna to join the state highway towards Madikeri.
This route takes about 252 kilometers from Bangalore to Madikeri.  Hassan from Karnataka, Kannur, Thalassery  from Kerala are the nearest towns to Madikeri and are placed at equidistant  at about 115 kilometers.

If you are travelling by rail Hassan, Kasaragod, Kannur and Thalassery are the nearest railway stations.  Mangalore and Mysore will be the best and have good rail connections with Madikeri even though they are a located a little farther.

If you area travelling by air, Bangalore will be the closest and you can take the road from Bangalore to Madikeri,  and follow the route  given above, by bus or by cabs from the airport.
